Why are there so few legal blogs in Puerto Rico?
It’s been more than a year since I started blogging, and I’ve realized that of the over 15,000 attorneys in Puerto Rico, only a handful of us have blogs.
Why is that?
Mario Nuñez recently gathered a list of blawgs for his Derecho 2.0 blog. Mario isn’t an attorney, but is fascinated with the capabilities that Web 2.0 has for dispersing information. His magnificent blogging projects are listed on his webpage Vida Digital and DigiZen

If a Puerto Rico Legal Blog Convention was to be held today, and a panel of all the bloggers came to attendance, we wouldn’t fill up a small classroom. We’re in dire need of more legal bloggers. I’m sure that a few of my fellow attorneys that regularly read this webpage, and that have subscribed to the E-mail or RSS feed are excellent writers, and have plenty to share with both the general and legal community.
Go ahead! Start your blog NOW!
Do like I did, go over to Blogger or TypePad or Wordpress and start writing your day to day meanderings, or your insight to your cases, or anything that comes to mind. We all benefit from your input, and there’s enough room on the Internet to share, but please, clear your agenda for 10 minutes a day, and compose a paragraph of anything legal. You’ll thank me for it, and even if you don’t thank me, you’ll be much happier in the end.

Esa es una excelente pregunta. Creo que una de las posibles razones tiene que ver con el currículo de las escuelas de derecho. La otra es que necesitamos más blogs de derecho como el tuyo que sirvan de modelo.

El currículo de mi Escuela de Derecho promovía la redacción y el uso del Internet para todo, así que ya van varias generaciones cibernéticas que podrían en efecto bloguear.
Yo creo que tiene más que ver con el acostumbrarse al monótono día a día de trabajar y no redactar, ni hacer más research que el absolutamente necesario. Llamémosle apatía jurídica.
Escribir en el blog me obliga a mi a estar al día en mi práctica, a contestar preguntas hipotéticas y reales, y a dedicarle más tiempo a mi crecimiento profesional. Quizás sigo siendo un masoquista académico, tal como lo era en la universidad. Postear en un blog es TAN FÁCIL que por eso hay millones de blogueros mundialmente, salvo que pocos son abogados de Puerto Rico.
Si le dedicaran el mismo tiempo a un blog que le de dedican a sus Facebooks y MySpaces (no que haya nada de malo con los social networking sites, que son otras manifestaciones del Web 2.0) habrían miles de blogs de derecho puertorriqueño. La diferencia es que un blog no tiene tantas fotos bonitas…

Estoy de acuerdo con la escasez de Blogs en Puerto Rico, recientemente terminaos un website para un cliente (Soler Law) y le recomende que tuviera un blog… En adicion, le puse un link a este blog… tienen muy buen contenido.

Siempre es un placer cuando hermanos bloggeros opinan en mi blog! Es cierto, parecería que el Web 2.0 apenas ha llegado a Puerto Rico, y que apenas se toma en serio. La GRAN mayoría de los blogs en Puerto Rico son de temas cotidianos, o de opinión personal, sin ofrecer información útil al lector.
Agraciadamente, existen blogs como el tuyo, y los de Mario Nuñez, y pocos más que son de sustancia.
Tu blog está excelente, y me encanta como incluyes multimedios con fotos relevantes. Ojalá yo pudiera incluir más fotos y videos en el mio, pero aún no encuentro como lograr que un juez me deje grabar en sala sin que me desaforen.
